Alex Trebek, the beloved host of syndicated game show Jeopardy!, passed away peacefully at home early this morning surrounded by family and friends. Trebek had been battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer since announcing the news back in March 2019, and remained on the show he hosted since 1984.
“I’m gonna fight this, and I’m gonna keep working,” Trebek said when he first disclosed the news of his diagnosis. “And with the love and support of my family and friends, and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”
In August 2019, Trebek had finished several rounds of chemotherapy and was hopeful for a full remission. But the following month, he announced he would have to receive additional chemo treatments.
